With the help of our Land Rovers you'll cross "off the beaten tourist paths" through Rivers and creeks with crystal clear waters, alpine lakes and stone built villages in one of the most beautiful areas of Pindos. The Zagorohoria Villages.

This Land Rover Safari and Trekking Tour covers most of the North Pindos area. We drive you to Metsovo via asphalt and we pass by Aoos Lake, until we reach a view point of the impressive Vikos gorge (the second highest in the world). We head for Vovousa village offroad, to have lunch in a traditional taverna. The route includes the villages of eastern Zagori Tsepelovo, Flabourari and Vrisohori.

The stunning peaks of Mt.Gamila and Astraka at altitudes above 2,000m with the dragon lakes, invite you for demanding hiking amongst rare and countless varieties of flowers. The Program

Day 1. Arrival

Arrival from country of origin, transfer from the airport to the central Hotel in Athens, short briefing and free afternoon to visit Plaka for romantic dinner under Acropolis and overnight.

Day 2. Athens – Papingo (B,L,D)

Our Land Rover Safari to Zagori Villages begins early in the morning from Athens. Vehicle pick up, briefing on equipment and morning departure for a spectacular crossing of the new bridge at Rio. We will have a few leisurely stops for photos, light snacks and coffee before heading north to reach the town of Ioannina and further our destination. Check in and relaxing free afternoon at Papingo, in one of the 46 villages of Zagori. Dinner and overnight in a very charm, stone build guesthouse.

Day 3. Vikos Gorge Trekking (B,L,D)

Ask any Greek to name five beautiful gorges of Greece and the first response will be "The Vikos."
The Vikos Gorge comes first because of its beautiful interconnecting footpaths of many levels of expertise that link stone villages tucked into folds of mountains. And a cool breeze that drifts through the tree-shaded Vikos gorge makes it possible to hike all summer, even when the rest of Greece is baking under blazing August sun.
We start our day with a short Transfer to Monodendri Village where the Trek to Papingo trough the Vikos Gorge begins. A classic Trek in one of Europe's finest canyons. Spectacular cliff walls tower up on both sides as we follow the riverbed downstream, or a small path alongside (Duration: ~ 4 hrs from 1050m down to 550m). We end with a further uphill (Duration: ~2 hrs from 550m up to 1050m) beneath the towers of Papingo. We may cool off with a dip in the natural swimming pool of a nearby stream before settling into our rooms. Overnight in a guesthouse at Papigo.

Day 4. Land Rover Safari in Pindos (B,L,D)

Today with the help of our Land Rovers you'll cross one of the most beautiful areas of Pindos. After some demanding "off the beaten tourist paths" through Rivers and creeks with crystal clear waters, alpine lakes, stone built villages and virgin forests a vast network of dirt roads will bring us back to Papigo for dinner and overnight.

Day 5. Papingo to Mt Gamila Refuge and Dragon Lake (B,L,D)

Todays hike starts uphill from Mikro Papingo to the "Astraka" refuge on Mt. Gamila.(Duration: ~ 4 hrs from 1050m up to 1950m). Here we picnic and leave our packs for the afternoon walk to the first of the Dragon Lakes, an hour away across grassy uplands studded with flowers and (until July) some small snow pack. We will overnight in the refuge of Astraka.

-Hiking Duration: ~5 hours | Distance ~ 8km | Altitudinal difference: ~ +900m

Day 6. Walk down to Mikro Papingo and back to Athens (B,L)

We walk down back to Papingo for launch (Duration: ~ 3 hrs from 1950m down to 1050m) and early afternoon departure to Athens. Overnight in the central hotel of Athens.

Day 7. Athens Free Day (B)

Free day to choose one of our day trips and excursions for sightseeing around Athens. See the treasures of the ancient Athens and Acropolis or take a day cruise to the fabulous Greek islands of Hydra, Poros and Egina for a relaxing day on the sea. Overnight in a central Hotel in Athens.

Day 8. - Departure

Transfer from your central Hotel in Athens to the airport and departure.

The region is a real paradise for hiking nature enthusiasts. The stunning peaks of Mt.Gamila and Astraka at altitudes above 2,000m, the dragon lakes, invite you for demanding hiking amongst rare and countless varieties of flowers. Vikos Gorge, listed as the deepest gorge in the world by the Guinness Book of Records, renowned for its natural beauty, crystal river pools in an unforgettable experience. The Vikos Gorge, with walls of up to 1 km in height, is also a site of major scientific interest, because it is in almost virgin condition, is a haven for endangered species and contains many and varied ecosystems.

This trip offers the chance to experience North Greece magnificent mountain scenery.

Routes have been chosen to showcase the best of the natural in Pindos Mountain. Terrain will include footpaths and mountain terrain, which can be rocky and loose in places, and sloped ascents and descents.

The walks are moderate in grade, and require an average level of fitness.

Our aim is to complete the activity as described in our Itineray but our priority is safety. Excessive rain or snow fall, deeper than expected river beds, damaged terrain, rapidly worsening weather or any other conditions which might endanger the activity will be dealt with on the spot and alternative routes will be chosen. Frequent visits to the area guarantee vast flexibility in completing the activity irrespective of any unforeseen factors.

7 Days Central Greece Land Rover Safari

Evritania is situated at the crossroads of the country, the expansive region of Central Greece is rugged and authentic, offering lush mountains and rural charm that are not to be missed. With its towering alpine peaks, Evritania often is referred to as the "Switzerland of Greece."

The Program

Day 1 - Arrival

Day 2 - Athens- Karpenisi Proussos Monastery Trekking

Our Land Rover Safari to Central Greece begins early in the morning from Athens. Vehicle pick up, briefing on equipment and morning departure for Karpenissi. We will have a stop at Sirius Bridge before heading north to reach the town of Lamia. Drive up to Tymfristos mountain which will lead us to our accommodation in traditional village of Korysxades. Break for light snack and coffee at the central square of the village.

• Trekking from Proussos Monastery to Mavri Spilia

We visit the famous monastery of Panagia Proussiotissa, situated since the first years of 9 th century. The landscape is admirable and respectable. We continue with a nice trekking from the monastery of Proussos to the area of Mavri Spilia (Black Cave). The trek follows a charming, well-defined path surrounded by soaring fir trees, chestnut trees and crosses traditional wooden bridges.

• Rappelling to Mavri Spilia (optional)

As the trek draws to an end, rappel down into Mavri Spilia Gorge with the aid of special equipment on a 7 m waterfall. This is one activity that's bound to remain unforgettable, pumping your adrenaline levels sky-high. Back to our hotel, dinner in a traditional tavern and overnight.

Day 3 – Land Rover Safari & River Trekking in "Panta Vrechi" Gorge

We kick off from Karpenissi heading for the village of Aniada. From there following the dirt track that leads through dense fir forest we reach the foothills of Mt. Kaliakoudas, near the mountaineering shelter at an altitude of 1,800m. From there we head down to the village of Doliana through the forest road. Following a small, riverside path we reach one of nature's miracles known as Panta Vrechi, with its towering waterfalls.

• River Trekking in "Panta Vrechi" Gorge

Light snack and coffee before we reached the waterfall after a short walk through a small gorge. The spot is accessible only when the water temperature is high enough. Return to our hotel after dinner in a traditional taverna at Krikello village, 15 km away from Karpenissi.

-River Trekking Duration: ~ 1hour (weather and water temperature permitting)

Day 4 – Land Rover Safari to Agrafa - The best views in Greece

Depart for the area of Agrafa via dirt roads, driving in the river bed of Tavropos and Agrafiotis river. Both rivers spring from Agrafa -
Passing by Viniani bridge we make a photo stop. Light snack and coffee at Agrafa village before we reach Tavropos lake and Plastira dam.
The word Agrafa literally translates to "unwritten" or uncharted- because the area and its population were not recorded in the Sultan's tax register thanks to its remoteness. An area of exceptional natural beauty, which remains pristine. Dinner and overnight at a traditional guesthouse, overlooking the magnificent lake of Plastira

Day 5 - Lake Plastira Kayaking adventure

This morning we will have a Kayaking tour of Lake Plastiras and have a swim in its warm waters. With our two-seater's kayaks we will visit the little Islands and fjords of the lake and play among the trees that is sunken into the water. Plastira lake is surrounded by beech and fir forests and offers an exciting off road driving experience.
Heading North West we reach the picturesque village of Elati, situated in one of the most beautiful mountain areas of Greece. After catching our breath with a light snack and a coffee, we pass through the Forest of Koziakas Mountain and arrive in Kastraki, witch including 4/6 of the Meteora region in its area. Is noted for its rugged natural beauty and for its magnificent rock formation. Night stop in a Traditional guesthouse and dinner in a taverna.

Day 6 - Floating cliffs of Meteora - Return to Athens

The superior floating cliffs of Meteora will be one of the first things you see today accompanied by a landscape of cliffs and monasteries built inside them. 'Suspended in the air' (the meaning of Meteora in Greek), these monasteries represent a unique artistic achievement and are one of the most powerful examples of the architectural transformation of a site into a place of retreat, meditation and prayer. Lunch in a traditional tavern and afternoon departure to Athens. Arrive to the central Hotel in Athens and overnight.

Day 3 - Foloi Forest

Leave hotel at 10.00 heading towards Foloi forest. The forest covers and area of 21.000 acres and it is famous for the long trunk oak trees. According to the Greek Mythology it was the residence of the Centaurs. Break for light snack and coffee before we face the challenging route of driving upstream a river, encountering a difficult exit from the river bed. Alternative route is available in case level of water or weather conditions dictate so. Coffee break at the picterisque village of Foloi before we return to Olympia. Dinner at hotel.

Day 4 - Ladonas River -Rafting - Kalavryta

Depart at 09.00, heading for the lake of Ladonas via asphalt road stopping by for coffee at the square of the village of Tropaia. A number of dirt roads will take us to Ladonas river in our Outdoor Activities Base for Rafting. Those who wish not to do rafting, can cycle along the river banks, with mountain bikes next to the river or have a nice walk. Experience the thrill of "flying", by practicing flying box over the crystal waters of the river Ladon and test your aiming skills by practicing archery. Light snack and coffee before we leave for Kalavryta where we will night stop in a traditional guesthouse near the ski resort. Dinner at guesthouse.

Day 5 - Lake Tsiblou - Lake Dasiou - Krathis River - Ziria Mountain

Morning departure for lake Tsivlou through fir tree forests. Driving along and across the river bed of Krathis river we will reach the village of Zarouchla, heading for Dasios lake to stop for a light snack and coffee by its shore. We continue up Ziria mountain through a number of dirt roads to reach the village of Trikala Korinthias. Night stop and dinner in a traditional hotel.

Day 6 - Ancient Mycenae - Athens

The Program

The trip starts and ends in Athens. After taking a scenic drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf, we will have a short stop at Corinth canal for some photos, before continuing to Tripoli, following the hi-way, and further the main road to our destination.

We will choose alternatively "off the beaten tracks" using our Land Rovers and following a few dirt roads we will arrive at the Ancient Gortys.
From there we get a short transfer to the Monastrey of Filosofos where the trek begins.

The Trek in Lousios Gorge offers a beautiful combination of history with nature.

We will walk amongst trails of dense vegetation going parallel and criss crossing the Lousios River.

We visit 2 monasteries and the hidden school that appear to be literally hanging from the cliffs.

We will have short brakes for picnic with refreshments and end the trek back to the archaeological site of Ancient Gortys.

This is one of the most stirring of all Greek sites as it is based along the rushing river known in ancient times as the Gortynios.

We may cool off with a dip in the natural swimming pool of a nearby stream before we drive up to Dimitsana and Stemnitsa for launch* and have a leisurely walk through the picturesque stone-build villages.

After lunch, on our way back to Athens, following a unique Off-Road Tour in Mainalo Forest, through 23,000 hectares of fir and 8,000 hectares of oak trees, we will have a short stop at Vitina.
It's one of the most picturesque villages in Arcardia. In the local shops you can find walnuts, chestnuts, dairy products, herbs and local wines.
Don't forget to buy Fir-tree honey from Mainalo Forest, also known as vanilla honey, which is creamy, with a caramel flavour, golden colour and mild texture. This is the only honey in Greece with a protected name of origin Vanilia Mainalou, awarded in the European market. Late afternoon return to the original departure point in Athens.

Athens- Mycenae Duration: ~ 1.5 hours | 100 % on-road | distance covered: ~120 km

After taking a scenic drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf, you will come to the ancient city of Mycenae home of the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. Right in the middle of a dream-like but nevertheless wild landscape, which softens as we heads down south towards the Argolic bay, reigns the mythical Mycenean Acropolis which has the absolute control over the valley of Argos.
The Ionic hillock of Mycenae, with the deep, abrupt and steep gorges that surround it, enchants the visitors with its dominating character. The scenery, with its huge cliffs and rocks designed by the masterful hand of nature, seems as the most appropriate setting for the unraveling of the tragic family of Atreus. We visit the tomb of Agamemnon, the Palace and the Lionesses Gate.

Mycenae–Epidauros Duration: ~1.5 hours |20 % on-road, 80 % off-road | distance covered:~50 km

Crossing the ancient (offroad) tracks of Agamemnon we arrive to Epidaurus. The world heritage listed city is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo's son Asklepios, the healer and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and still used today due to its amazing acoustics.
We visit Asklipio of Epidauros, the birthplace of medicine, which was practiced as power and was given to humans as knowledge of God.

Epidauros-Moni Augou Duration: ~1 hour |50 % on-road, 50 % off-road |distance covered:~30 km

We drive "off the beaten track" using our Land Rovers, following the dirt track that leads to the quite mysterious and relatively young monastery of Avgo, which is built into the rock during the 17th century.
Due to its location, was used as a fortress by the Greeks during the years of the Turkish domination.
We enjoy the unique views down to the valley of Argolida and have a light snack before we continue to Nauplio.

Moni Augou-Nauplio Duration: ~ 1 hour | 70 % on-road, 30 % off-road | distance covered: ~40 km

With its breathtaking views of Akronauplia, Nauplio will be our last stop before we return back to Athens.

The old city with its numerous tile-roofs interrupted here and there by perennial trees' tops, the churches' belfries with the unique Bourdzi standing like a stationary ship amidst the waters of the serene harbor.

Full of fig trees hanging from the rocks- the stunningly beautiful view of the Nauplio Gulf and the beach of Arvanitia, hides under the dominant presence of Palamidi.
We will enjoy a leisurely walk in the cobblestone paths of Nafplion, and have a nice dinner near the sea at Greek Taverna.

We leave Nauplio in the afternoon heading to Athens and return to the departure point around 21:00-22:00

Our 2 day trip to North Evia begins early in the morning from Athens. Pick up from your hotel or the departure point and heading North to Halkida Bridge which connecting the island Evia with the mainland of Greece. We will have a few leisurely stops for photos, light snacks and coffee before heading north to reach Istiaia, the capital town of North Evia and further our destination.

The Farm

The Horse Riding Tour includes an overnight in a Farm of 40 hectares with crops and animals. The Farm offers rooms completely equipped with lovely views and a very charm Café-Restaurant for your breakfasts. In the farm you will meet 12 horses for riding, "dama-dama" deer, goats and many other animals.

The Horse Riding

Children and adults will get their first riding lessons and groups are split according to their level of horse riding. You don't know anything about horse riding? No problem. You can follow the starters Tour, in which we teach beginners, horse riding in a safe environment and take you out for easy hacks in the end of the course.

Horseback Trail riding in the mountain ranges of Telethrion is available for riders of all abilities, from absolute beginners of any age, whether you are sitting on a horse for the first time or wish to improve your riding skills, to learning the finer arts of show jumping or dressage. After the ride we return to the Farm for dinner and overnight.

The Land Rover Safari to Drimonas waterfalls.

Morning departure following the mountain tracks of Telethrion forest, with sometimes relative accessibility, the deep mud is something that can be expected throughout the route. After crossing rivers and streams which always cause action and adventure, we meet Drimonas waterfalls. We follow the nice downhill walking path to get the fantastic views of a pond with water to fall from 15 meters. We will enjoy the natural landscape covered from fir and black pine trees, having a nice picnic in-between. Late afternoon return to Athens.
